A portable CMM is a coordinate measurement machine that works on a 3D coordinate system to measure data points, these single points can be used to create geometry. Portable CMM’s are designed to be used in harsher environments than traditional CMMs.

3D scanning involves mounting a laser line probe to a portable CMM and using it to digitize a part. The laser line probe generates a line of data points as you move the CMM so this allows large amounts of data to be collected very fast. This data builds a 3D representation of the part we can measure or use to build CAD models from.

Lead time for inspection reports in normally a few days after measurement is completed, when we are performing measurements on site for a problem solving approach we will dimension what we need to as we measure to find the problems. CAD models are usually delivered less than one week after data collection.
